6 Sporting Teams in Herts to Champion

At gpfm we’re proud to be one of the most respected and highly sought after financial planners in the UK. And we’re proud of our office location in Hertford in the heart of Hertfordshire. We like to consider ourselves an active member of the local community. 

One of the ways we get involved is through our support of the sports teams in the area. The sporting calendar is jam-packed with a whole host of matches and tournaments on the horizon.

Bring the family, don your colours and pop along to cheer the following gpfm-sponsored teams. We’ll see you there…

1. Hemel Storm (basketball)

Hemel Storm* are a basketball team currently in Division 1 of the English National Basketball League. They are based in Hemel Hempstead where most of their games also take place. This tenacious bunch will be bouncing into action on Saturdays and Sundays throughout autumn and winter.

 2. Cheddington Bowls Club

Bowls is a traditional lawn sport that is immensely popular across all ages. Cheddington Bowls Club* is a club that facilitates all levels – from beginners right through to advanced players. Sadly, the bowls season is over for the year. You’ll have to wait till April to catch this bunch in competition.

3. Potters Bar Hockey Club

Hockey season runs between October and April and you’ll find us on the side-lines for Potters Bar Hockey Club*. This club dates back, in some form or other, to 1948 and have bucket- loads of spirit to match that history.

4. Hertford Rugby Club

In gpfm’s hometown is Hertford Rugby Club*. Their matches take place on Saturdays and occasional weekdays throughout the season. You’ll spot them in their signature blue and black.

5. Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club

Cricket season will start again mid-April. If you go out to support Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club* be sure to pick up some refreshments in their aptly named Sticky Wicket Café.

 6. Cockfosters Cricket Club

Ok, we admit it: at gpfm we have a bit of a thing for cricket. We are proud to support not one but two amazing teams. Cockfosters Cricket Club* boasts quite a lineage of past players that includes legends like Chris Cairns in the professional ranks and Jack Hyams in the amateur ranks.
